Episode 46- Take Back Your Power: The Art of Responding Instead of Reacting
Ever felt like you suddenly don't belong where you once did? That uncomfortable feeling isn't random. It's your soul's unmistakable signal that you're ready to evolve beyond your current reality.
As we navigate life's complexities, many of us experience this spiritual growing pain: relationships that once nourished us feel constraining, environments that once welcomed us feel limiting, and the familiar routines that provided comfort now feel like cages. This displacement isn't something to fear. It's actually a profound invitation to step into something greater.
Through this deeply reflective episode, I explore how taking radical responsibility for our lives transforms everything. After over two decades on this journey, I've discovered that our reality isn't happening to us. It's flowing through us based on where we direct our energy, attention, and power of response. When we shift from being reactive to circumstances to becoming intentional creators, everything changes.
The journey requires examining who we surround ourselves with, questioning our limiting beliefs, and developing emotional intelligence that allows us to respond rather than react. Most importantly, we must recognize fear not as an enemy but as an alarm system from our soul, signaling we're ready to step into new territory. Growth happens precisely where comfort ends.

Say yes, I am, yes, I am, yes, I am, it's my life. So I tell me I'm alright and it helps me Realize that I'm wealthy, rich in passion, rich in magic. It's my life. So I tell me I'm alright and it helps me.
Speaker 2:Welcome to this episode of Evolve Mastery. I'm your host, princeton Clark, and I hope you guys are doing well. Man, we've been growing through a lot of seasons. We look at the world. We see so many different things happening.
Speaker 2:Something beautiful that I've been noticing is just how many people are beginning to feel the underflow and the tug of their soul to step into something new, this deep calling, this deep knowing that they're not here to just fit in, they're not here to just blend in with the systems of this world. They're no longer seeking to validate, they're no longer just feeling the need to just go out and just speak whatever is on their mind. They're just in the space of deep introspection. Places that they used to fit, they don't fit anymore. Relationships they used to fit into, they don't fit into anymore, and life in and of itself. It feels very unfamiliar. And I always say this is a sign when you're being called to grow and evolve out of your current reality. And so many people are beginning to feel this. It's like you're experiencing this life. You're seeing the world through new eyes. You're seeing people and situations and circumstances through new eyes and you're asking yourself where do I fit in all of this? Where do I fit? And you may feel completely out of place just in general, but I wanted to do this episode because it's very important during these moments, at these times in our life, for us to do the deeper introspection, to ask the deeper questions, something I tell my clients all the time because they ask how do I stay in flow, how do I remain positive even when I'm facing challenges or experiencing problems in my life? And I say you know what I don't really see at this stage of my growth, after over 23 years? At this stage of my growth, I don allowed the relationships I've allowed the circumstances, I've allowed what I've given my energy to what I've thought about, what I've spoken about and how I've chosen to respond overall to my life. And with this comes a high level of accountability and responsibility that I feel in each moment to be very intentional and to also be very focused on where I'm putting my energy, where I'm putting my energy, where I'm putting my focus, where I'm putting my time. And this is where a lot of people need to learn to grow, because a lot of the times, it's so easy to get caught up and trust me, I've been there but it's so easy to get caught up in the external.
Speaker 2:But remember, no matter what state you're in as a spiritual being, we are all spiritual beings, regardless of how much we talk about it or acknowledge it. We are all spiritual beings regardless of how much we talk about it or acknowledge it. We are all spiritual beings having a human experience, which means that at the core of the life that we are creating, there is a power that we're using at all times, and I always say no matter what state you're in, you're powerful because you are creating the reality, or the perspective or the story that's creating the framework for how you choose to show up, or based on how you choose to show up. And so if you're creating a negative reality, you're still using a lot of power to create that negative reality. But when we start stepping into accountability and responsibility over our life, we start functioning differently. We stop being a slave to circumstance, a slave to different situations, a slave to the different things that are coming up in our lives, and we start responding. Your life is your responsibility. It's based on your ability to respond. We start responding in a new way, and so something I tell my clients is really look at where you are right now, and you got to be willing to be really honest, because if you want to grow, I always say, doing the same old things will never get you a new result. If you are tired or you've outgrown the space that you're in, then it's time for you to start responding in a way that's going to create something new. Now you may say, princeton, I don't even know what I want to create. Okay, to that I say that means there's nothing but a blank canvas in front of you. This means there's room for trying new things, experiencing new things, building new relationships, and it's in these new spaces that you're going to be given more room to grow. A lot of the times when we feel stagnant, it's because we're no longer growing. We're too familiar or comfortable where we are and we stopped doing things that stretch us, that evolve us, and so the soul starts to feel stuck. But stuck is just an illusion. It's a result of inactivity into creation mode that manifests new things. And so I wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about that, and I wanted to give you guys some tips today on how you can start showing up the mindset you need to have as you show up, and I wanted to encourage you and maybe nudge you just a little bit so that you start taking your life seriously.
Speaker 2:If you follow this podcast long enough, I've shared my story. I've shared what I've experienced several times, but often people are asking how did you grow from being that person that was angry, that was bitter, that was shut down, that was just living this life, that was malicious and just lost altogether, to being who you are now? And to that I say following my attempt on my life and trying to end it all, I realized that I was where I was because I chose to be there. I was in the reality I was in because I had chosen to respond or to use my power to respond in a way that created that reality or allowed certain things to be that I could have always chosen to step out of. Would it have been challenging? Yes, 100%, and even as I began to grow, it was very challenging to step out of familiar environments. It was very challenging to leave friends and even family that were no longer in alignment with where I wanted to go, and I had to choose to set the standard for where I wanted to go.
Speaker 2:But I had the sense of urgency and I think this is the thing at the core that we don't have. For most people, you don't have it. There's no sense of urgency, there's nothing waking you up every single day, pushing you to manifest, and the reason that's happening is because you truly haven't met yourself yet, you haven't truly learned how to love and honor your life, honor each breath so that you can flow into the newness you say you want. You haven't learned to love yourself and, as a result, you haven't learned to honor your power. And as a result of not loving yourself and honoring your power, there's no urgency, there's no soul led, intuitive push to create anything new. As a result, you're lost in all the programs, you're lost in all the belief systems, you're lost in all the perceived limitations that you've placed on yourself or that society or that people have placed on you, because you gave your power away and if you want to change that, you got to start, little by little, taking that power back. You have to start saying no to the things, the people, the relationships, the circumstances that no longer honor you, and you got to start asking yourself questions like what's one new thing that I can do today to start creating change in this area and then start making it a practice every single day.
Speaker 2:It's just like exercising a muscle. You don't go to the gym one time and then all of a sudden you're strong, all of a sudden you've developed the body you want. All of a sudden you've developed muscles and whatever it is. You don't just go one time and think, oh, now I'm changed. And it's always funny to me when I go to the gym and I work out and I see people standing in the mirror flexing after a workout. I'm like the results don't come right. After you do a workout, you might get a little pump and it might look good, but as soon as that wears off, you know you're going to be looking like you look normally. But as you consistently move, all of a sudden the composition begins to change. The way you eat changes, the way you look begins to change, all of this stuff begins to change because you're consistently exercising so you can develop in the way that you want to develop. The same thing applies as above, so below. The same thing applies spiritually.
Speaker 2:And unfortunately, we put more attention on the body and the external than we do on the internal, which is what we are, and this is why so many people feel lost in their life. Also, it's important to note that your tribe, the people you surround yourself with, also are influencing you. The five people I can look at them, five main people you spend most of your time with and I can guarantee you I can get some idea about where you are in your life. See, because when you're striving to win, when you're striving to build, when you're striving to love yourself, to evolve and to create a life that's fruitful, a life that's filled with love, a life that's filled with joy, a life that's filled with peace, a life that's filled with gratitude, you don't just surround yourself with just anyone, you don't just have conversations about just anything. Everything starts to become intentional because you want to create the life that you say you want.
Speaker 2:The next thing, too, is also paying attention to your belief systems, because a lot of the times, people will say I believe I'm powerful, I believe that I have the capacity to create my own reality. I believe that in every single moment, in every single breath, I'm the author of my life and I'm creating every moment. But do we truly believe that? You might have the conceptualized idea that you are these things, but your beliefs are seen through action, because belief is an action word. If I say I believe, it means that I am showing up in a way that's in alignment with that belief.
Speaker 2:You can have knowledge of something and still not believe it, and this is crazy, because we go through. You see it religiously, you see it professionally, you see it personally on so many different levels, people saying they recognize and they know the truth. I can't tell you how many times and you've probably heard it too where you're trying to explain something to someone to help them and they're like I know, I know, I already know all this. It's like you don't have a knowing. You have the knowledge of, you have the information to know that it's possible, but you don't have a deep soul. You don't have that deep level of awareness that drives you every day to show up, to speak and to operate in a way that creates change.
Speaker 2:So if you're in that place that I was speaking of earlier, where you feel out of place, you feel like you're stuck, you feel like life is stagnant, you feel like you don't fit in, your soul is calling you to rise higher, and so, like I said, you got to start asking deeper questions, questions such as why do I give my power to these things. What am I seeking? Why am I still seeking validation? Why am I still trying to fit into things that I don't fit in? Why am I not using my voice to speak more powerfully over my life? Why am I not showing up in a way to show that I truly love me? What am I choosing to believe instead? What stories am I telling myself that make me believe that I can't do what others have done? What are the stories that I'm telling myself that make me believe I'm not ready to be what I was born to be? You got to start asking the questions, and so, as you're listening to, this should become a daily practice.
Speaker 2:This was something that I started early on, right after my life changed at the age of 23. I would always sit and I would meditate and I would do the deep observation, and then I would have to take responsibility. Princeton, you haven't been showing up this way. You haven't been communicating what you truly desire. You've been complaining, you haven't been taking action on the things that you say you want. So why are you upset? And see, I had to take that personal accountability. I had to become responsible and intentional with my life, because life is going to happen to you based on you giving your power away to the externals and, as a result, they become the main leading factors guiding the relationships, guiding the experiences, and so on and so forth in your life, or you can create life as it's happening Now. Don't get me wrong Change is the only constant and you can't always change or control certain changes that happen. But you can always control how you choose to respond to it, and so your responsiveness is gonna be everything.
Speaker 2:Emotionally, we get overwhelmed, but this is where you gotta develop emotional intelligence so that you're not led by emotion, because the thing about emotion and you've probably heard me say this before emotion is just energy in motion. Emotion is what happens based on what you focus on. When you focus on something negative or focus on something really positive, it puts energy into motion in your body. Another layer of that is when you judge or see things in a way that you see them or deem them as unfair or not good, or bad or wrong. You now put that energy into motion in your body and you begin to judge it at a very deep level, and so that's what you're feeling. You're feeling that judgment, that disconnection, because you're focusing on the wrong thing, and it takes less than a millisecond for one negative thought or a positive thought to become a snowball of negative or positive thoughts. And you have to exercise what you're giving your power to.
Speaker 2:You can't just sit back and wait for change to come. You can't just sit back and wait for people to tell you what's going to work for you or what's not going to work for you, what you need to do or what you can't do. And you got to decide every single day, because growth happens on the other side of fear, because fear just exposes where we need to learn or where we get to learn. And so if I feel fear in an area, fear just lets me know my brain is trying to quantify or qualify something that I haven't experienced yet. So my questions must be what am I being called to do or learn in this area of my life? And then, from there, you begin to diligently seek the information for your transformation. You begin to diligently see what is required in order for you to manifest change or newness in this area. See, we've made fear this negative thing. But what I always say is fear is an alarm system from my soul letting me know that I'm beginning to step into something new, and I already know I can't trust my brain, because the brain, if it hasn't experienced it, it's going to go into the remember when's or the what ifs, which means it's either going to go into the past or it's going to go into the future and it's going to pull me out of the present.
Speaker 2:Change happens when we are intentional in the present. Positive creative force happens automatically when we are present and we are intentional in our decision-making, our thoughts and the way that we communicate in and around our life, in and around our relationships, so on and so forth. And so I want to see you guys win. And there's so many different ways that I can say all these things.
Speaker 2:But the truth is, growth is not hard. Growth is really simple. It's just that we tell ourselves it's hard because we're so attached and this is another layer we're so attached to what has been, we're so attached to a former idea or expectation that when life says, ok, it's time to grow in this area, you've become stagnant in this area, it's time to step into something new. We're so attached to the comfort of what has been that we don't let it go. We're afraid to let it go. We're so attached to our own belief systems and the identities and the personas that we've created and the masks that we've hid behind that we don't let it go. And, as a result, it said in Don Miguel Ruiz's book, the Five Levels of Attachment, that attachment is the source of all pain. It's the source of all pain and that's where a lot of that comes from. But if I want to step into something new, I got to let go of the weight, the things attaching me to where I am and where I've been. Otherwise, they're always going to pull me back, they're always going to put me in position where I'm not fully operating at my highest level.
Speaker 2:Next thing, again, we talked about the circle that you're around. But beyond that, find someone who can mentor you, find someone who can coach you, who can guide you and vet them. Don't just because you see a post. I know there's a lot of people on social media now but I can help you with this and I can help you with that. But I always say you have to interview the people you bring into your life, because your life is sacred and you can't just give that space to just anyone. Vet them. How long have they been doing what they do? What experience do they have in overcoming it? What results have they created in their life as a result?
Speaker 2:And really interview them. What drives you, what is your purpose, what is your mission behind what you do? Really get to know them when you have consult calls. Don't just get on there just talking to them about your problem. You got to figure out and I'll say this too if you start looking for mentors excuse me, you need to go into it, understanding that if you request a consult call, go in ready to invest. That way, if you are in a position to work with someone, you know that you're ready to take action. One thing that I always say is, if you stay ready, you don't have to get ready Initially. There's books, there's podcasts, there's YouTube there's all these different places.
Speaker 2:You can find information, but also become intentional about where you're putting your finances, because something I'll hear clients say sometimes, or potential clients, is I don't have the money and I'll say okay, let's look at where you are. How much money are you spending on streaming channels? How much money are you spending on eating out? How much money are you spending on other negative habits? How much money are you spending on other things that are not necessity but they're more wants. If you were to go into your bank account right now and look at the graph for where your spending is, how much of what you're spending is going towards what you want and how much did you spend in a month on things that you need, and then compare and then, in the space of the wants, the entertainment and all this other stuff, ask yourself how much of this could I save each month if I just canceled it while I focus on my growth?
Speaker 2:It doesn't mean you have to stop it altogether, depending on what it is Now. If it's an unhealthy habit, yeah, you definitely want to work on stopping that. But if it's just something that's distracting you or something that's not adding to your life, it's not adding any value to your physical growth, your mental growth, your emotional growth and your spiritual growth, then you need to start cycling out of that anyway, because those are all distractions that are going to keep you where you are. And then, as you look at that, you may say, ok, maybe you're only in a place where, ok, I'd save $100 a month. Maybe you'd say, man, I'd save a couple thousand dollars a month. Ok, whatever that is, look at how much you could potentially save and over the course of the next month, while you're reading the books, watching the YouTube, but still working to seek a mentor or find a mentor or coach that can work with you start inquiring. Start looking at how much different programs cost. See if there's mentorship programs versus one-on-one programs. See if they have any training programs or workshops that you can purchase as one-offs.
Speaker 2:There's always a way. It's like the old saying where there's a will, there's a way, but do you have the will to do it? Do you have the will to replace all the things that don't serve you with all the things that do deserve you? And from there again, this has been important in every area of your life. We must be intentional.
Speaker 2:I can't tell you how many times I've had people reach out to me and say, hey, I really want to work with a coach and mentor. Financially, I just don't have it right now. Ok, what was the point in the consult? See, I need you to be intentional and this is why I always say I don't work with just anyone. I'm not that person you come to, that guide, that mentor that you come to, who's just going to pat you on the back and congratulate you for playing small or give you baby step lessons in a way that it keeps you stagnant. So you keep paying me as a coach. No, I'm the coach you come to, I'm the guide you come to, as I always tell my potential clients, that's going to kick you off the cliff so that you can form your divine wings and fly to be the most powerful version of yourself, tapping into the deepest level of your potential and to give birth to the purpose that you were wired to. Purpose or, excuse me, wired to give birth to See.
Speaker 2:You are so powerful and, like I said, no matter what state you're in, you're powerful. So if you are in a weak state, you're powerfully in a weak state and you're going to powerfully create more weak experiences. But if you're powerfully moving in a positive state, then you're going to powerfully create positive results, positive relationships, positive growth, positive change. But you have to be intentional about this. This is your life and you only get this one to be this version of you that you get to create. And so if you want to see change in your life, you must be the change in your life that you want to see, and I know that this can be challenging. Maybe you've been growing through a phase in your life where you're saying I really want to grow, I'm struggling with my mindset, or I'm struggling with manifesting the vision that I want to manifest, I'm struggling with being present. I'm struggling with these different things and I feel like I just need to be reset. I need to be in a space where I can learn and where I can grow. If that's you, I'm going to open this opportunity right now.
Speaker 2:In 26 more days I'm going to be hosting another mentorship program Now. Normally it's $3.95 to be a part of the Master Reboot mentorship program, but right now, if you join my private Facebook community, if you want that information, feel free to reach out to me on Instagram at Princeton Clark, or you can go through my website at princetonclarkcom and you can fill out the little form, the little pop-up. Give me your information and just say Facebook community and you can join from there. But if you want to be a part of my community, you can do so by just becoming a part of the program. But in doing so right now, if you use the code REBOOTNOW in all caps REBOOTNOW R-E-B-O-O-T-N-O-W, rebootnow when to the Master Reboot Training, I'll send you the link. The link should be in the show notes. You guys can just go there and you guys can apply Right now. If you use Reboot Now as the discount code, you'll get 50% off. It's originally $3.95. Right now you can get 50% off and there's also payment options, so you can do two payments and split the deal that way as well, and the 50% off also applies to the two payment option.
Speaker 2:So I'm creating ways and I'm looking to build my community and elevate it with people who are ready to step forward, with people who are ready to step into their power and who are ready to really grow and find a tribe that's going to speak over them, speak into them, challenge them but, more than anything, love them through the process, because we, as spiritual beings, were not created to do this alone. We were created to do it together. We were created to thrive. We were created to function as a tribe, not as independent individuals doing life alone, and I know that's a big struggle for a lot of you too. You're tired of doing it alone. You don't have people around you. In my community, once a month, I do a free Zoom call that you guys can join, and I may even start doing more than that, but I want to see you guys grow. I want to see you guys evolve.
Speaker 2:But understand that with growth there must be intentionality, there must be accountability and there must be responsibility taken in order to be fully intentional in how you're showing up. So ask the deeper questions why am I choosing to be where I am? Because, first, you have to acknowledge that you are choosing to be where you are by the decisions, by the thoughts, by the actions and words that you take over your life. You are using your power to create that reality. And so that you take over your life, you are using your power to create that reality.
Speaker 2:And so, if you want to grow, you want to develop that spiritual muscle, mental muscle, emotional muscle, physical muscle. You got to exercise new habits. You got to exercise new skills, develop new skills. You have to learn more. You got to get around people who are having the right conversations, who are going to encourage you. You got to start growing in a way that's going to push you into being that version of you that's going to shed off the old that no longer serves you. You got to start giving your brain new information to work with, otherwise, it's programmed to only play or understand life through the framework of the information you have up to this point.
Speaker 2:And so step through the fear. Fear is just an alarm system from your soul showing you're ready to step into something new. But in order to step through, fear on the other side is learning. So what must I learn to be better in this area? What information do I lack that's thriving in relationships, so on and so forth.
Speaker 2:How is that version of me showing up, that this current version of me is not showing up? How can I bring his or her habits into this present moment and start applying them now? How are they waking up every single day? How are they communicating? How are they being intentional in how they create their friend circle? How are they being intentional in how they date? How are they being intentional in how they build their business or develop the vision for their life? And based on whatever you can perceive, because your soul always knows, all the information you need is in you. You just got to start asking the right questions, and then you got to start taking responsibility and accountability, and then you got to start taking intentional steps, intentional action, in order to get the results, because life is going to keep changing. Change is the only constant and how you respond to change is going to determine what you manifest through change. But you are the change you've been waiting to see and you must choose to be it.
Speaker 2:Listen, guys, I appreciate you guys for tuning in. I just wanted to drop that in today and I'm going to start doing this more regularly because I know a lot of you are out there and you're seeking, and you may be growing through, something right now that's so challenging and you feel so alone. If that's you, reach out to me, reach out to me. Like I said on Instagram, let me know you, listen to the podcast, you're ready to grow. You've been seeking a mentor, you're ready to step into something new in your life, and I'll share different ways that you can reach out and get in touch with me or join my community community. All those links will also be in the link tree in my bio on Instagram, but you can also go again to princetonclarkcom, and I'm also working on putting the evolvedmasterycom website back up too. So all those updates and whatnot will be coming on my social media, but there's going to be other opportunities.
Speaker 2:Me and my partner, sean, and I are getting ready to start hosting in-person events, virtual events. We are getting ready to start hosting in-person events, virtual events. We're getting ready to start working with couples singles. We're getting ready to start helping people develop their brand and their message and their business. We're getting ready to help people really take their power back, own their capacity to love themselves, show them how to heal completely and how to step into that version of them that they are called to be. And I'm really excited to have a partner that's really in this with me, who has done the work, who's grown through a lot of trauma, who's grown through a lot of professional challenges, evolved to do really well working in the corporate space, but she's also overcome a lot spiritually and she's grown immensely. And it's so amazing when you meet people, and I'm grateful at this stage of my life to have someone in my life that I get to co-create with in such a beautiful way as a father, as a partner, as a leader, because I believe that's something else that this world needs to see more of True, conscious partnership, what it looks like to create and live within a sacred union, and so we have a sacred union course and so much more that we're going to be creating down the line, but stay tuned.
Speaker 2:Follow me on social media at Princeton Clark. You can also follow the Evolve Mastery page. At Evolve Mastery, there's some new stuff that we're going to start adding to that. I hadn't really been posting a lot on the Evolve Mastery Instagram, but I am going to start posting more on there. Sean's going to be posting more with me as well, and also Princeton Clark at Princeton Clark on Instagram. But also Princeton Clark at Princeton Clark on Instagram, but all my links are in the show notes.
Speaker 2:If you want to reach out and I want to see you grow. Man, you are powerful. There were there. There never will be, nor has there ever been, a you that can be the most powerful version of you the way you can. There's only one you. You are an original blueprint.
Speaker 2:So show the world just how amazing you are.
Speaker 2:Show you, above all else, how amazing you are. Show you, above all else, how amazing you are Because you only have two purposes in this life To meet yourself at the deepest level, to be the highest version of you that's possible through your own power and intention. And then the second purpose is to take the wisdom gained as you continue that journey and to infuse that wisdom purposefully, serve it through others, serve it through your businesses, serve it through your businesses, serve it through your relationships, serve it through your connections and the different skills and gifts that you have to show other people, because every gift, every job or business or relationship is a doorway into lives, into the lives of people that you otherwise wouldn't have met. So you're taking the power of you and infusing it into every part of your life to be the change you want to see in the world. You become a change that the world needs to see, and so I want to help you guys do that, sean, and I want to help you guys do that, and I'm so grateful for those of you who are part of the Evolve Mastery community. There's so much more that we're getting ready to bring forward to you guys. So stay tuned, reach out, get connected.

I hope you guys are having an amazing life and if you feel challenged, just know that's your soul moving you into newness, challenging you to step out of what you've accepted for way too long, that job, that relationship, whatever it is. Your soul is calling you to grow, evolve, be fruitful and multiply. Step into more love, more joy, more peace, more gratitude. And if you choose to surrender to this process, I guarantee you the process will not only change your life, it will evolutionize your life. Let's step into what it means to truly master, because mastery is not about force. Mastery is about surrender, and it's time for you to surrender to the most powerful version of you.
